Fatal Shooting Under Investigation on S. Benjamine Street in Durham

DURHAM, NC – Durham police are investigating the city’s latest homicide following a fatal shooting Wednesday night on the 300 block of S. Benjamine Street.

What Happened?

According to the Durham Police Department, officers responded to a report of a gunshot wound at approximately 9:27 p.m. on May 7, 2025. Upon arrival, they located a male victim suffering from a gunshot injury.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities say this appears to be an isolated incident, and investigators are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending family notification.
