Student With Gun Prompts Lowe’s Grove Lockdown

Durham, NC – Lowe’s Grove Middle School in Durham experienced a brief lockdown on Wednesday after a weapon was discovered on campus. Although the exact type of weapon was not disclosed by authorities, students communicated to their parents via text messages that it was a gun.

The lockdown was initiated when teachers alerted Durham Public Schools (DPS) officials about a student possibly possessing a weapon. The student was promptly located, and the weapon was confiscated without incident.

DPS confirmed that the lockdown has since been lifted, and the school has returned to its regular daily schedule, with dismissal occurring at the usual time.
