Following the success of Beauty in Black, Tyler Perry is turning up the heat with his latest creation, She the People, Netflix’s newest comedy series that promises laughter, politics, and real-life tension. Starring Terri J. Vaughn, the series dives into the unexpected chaos that follows a big political win — and all the drama behind the scenes.

She the People follows Antoinette Dunkerson (Vaughn), a newly elected Lieutenant Governor of Mississippi who soon finds herself navigating a minefield of sexism, shady politics, and family drama. As the public eye intensifies, Antoinette must keep her balance while holding her values.

The Team Behind the Scenes

Tyler Perry not only created but also writes, directs, and executive produces She the People. He is joined by co-creator Niya Palmer, with Keisha Lance Bottoms — the former Atlanta mayor and White House adviser — also stepping in as executive producer alongside Vaughn.

Angi Bones and Tony L. Strickland round out the producing team at Tyler Perry Studios.

Building on Momentum

The series marks the second collaboration under Perry’s first-look deal with Netflix, following the success of The Six Triple Eight, which became his most-watched film on the platform. That momentum boosted his other projects’ views by 45%, and Beauty in Black hit #1 globally upon release in October 2024.
