Two Men Arrested in Connection to March Shooting Death of Raleigh Man
Jayquan Cobb died from gunshot wounds; suspects found in Virginia and face murder charges
RALEIGH, NC – Two men have been arrested in connection to the shooting death of 30-year-old Jayquan Montier Cobb, who was shot on March 15, 2025, in southeast Raleigh and later died from his injuries.
At approximately 9:41 PM that evening, Raleigh police responded to a report of a shooting at 5308 Wayne Street. Officers arrived to find Cobb suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died three days later on March 18.
UPDATE – Arrests Made


After a two-month investigation, the Raleigh Police Department, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested 32-year-old Raysean Calhoun and 32-year-old Anthony Jones on May 22, 2025, in Virginia. Both men will be extradited to Raleigh to face the following charges:
- Murder
- Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
The arrests mark a significant development in the case, which sparked concern in the Wayne Street community and the broader southeast Raleigh area.
