Durham, NC – Internationally acclaimed recording artist Jasmé Kelly, affectionately known as the Daughter of Soul, has released her newest single, “Gypsy Soul,”—a powerful track that sets the stage for her highly anticipated EP and upcoming Eastern North Carolina summer club tour.

With her unmistakable blend of sultry vocals, raw emotion, and lyrical storytelling, Kelly continues to explore themes of love, resilience, and self-discovery—hallmarks of her music over the past two decades.

“Music is my way of healing and connecting with others,” says Kelly. “I want every song to tell a story that people can see themselves in. And people need that now more than ever.”

About “Gypsy Soul” & Upcoming EP

“Gypsy Soul” is featured on Kelly’s forthcoming EP, Before and After, which will officially drop on July 13, 2025, during an EP release celebration at The Blue Note Grill in Durham.

The project was made possible through the support of the St. Joseph’s Historic Foundation ARPA Arts, Culture & Sustainability Grant and the Durham Arts Council’s NC Artist Support Grant, underscoring Kelly’s deep connection to her artistic roots and the community that shaped her.

About Jasmé Kelly – The Daughter of Soul

Jasmé Kelly is a celebrated singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer hailing from Durham, North Carolina. With a performance history that includes BB King, Boney James, Kem, Maceo Parker, Ledisi, and other musical greats, Kelly is a standout figure in the world of soul, jazz, and R&B.

She is also a proud contributor to The Nina Simone Archive Project, preserving the legacy of the iconic artist, and regularly performs alongside Dr. Sam Wayman, Nina Simone’s brother and former musical director.

Kelly holds a B.A. in Performance Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master’s in Music from Southern Utah University.
