Tyler Perry’s ‘Beauty in Black’ Heats Up as Kimmie Takes Over the Bellarie Empire

There’s a new matriarch at the helm of the Bellarie beauty empire — and she’s ready to shake things up. Tyler Perry’s hit drama Beauty in Black returns for Season 2, picking up after a jaw-dropping cliffhanger that left viewers stunned: Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams), a Chicago club dancer turned unlikely heiress, is now the wife of patriarch Horace Bellarie (Ricco Ross) — and the new boss.

Kimmie Rises to Power

“By the end of the season, Kimmie is on the verge of discovering a whole new level of power,” Williams previously told Tudum. But that’s just the beginning. Season 2 will once again be released in two parts, just like the explosive first season, and will follow Kimmie’s journey as she steps fully into the spotlight — and into control.

The Fallout Begins

The finale of Season 1 saw Horace marrying Kimmie in a strategic move to secure his legacy. From his hospital bed, he told his stunned sons, Roy (Julian Horton) and Charles (Steven G. Norfleet), “Sons, this is your new stepmother… and your new boss.”

That power shift doesn’t sit well with the rest of the wealthy Bellarie clan, especially Mallory (Crystle Stewart), Horace’s ruthless beauty mogul daughter-in-law, his sharp ex-wife Olivia (Debbi Morgan), and his calculating brother Norman (Richard Lawson).

A Dangerous Game

Throw in Bellarie’s head of security, Jules (Charles Malik Whitfield) — Kimmie’s former boss who never saw this coming — and things are primed for betrayal, power plays, and high-stakes drama. According to Perry, “Kimmie exemplifies the spirit of never underestimating the underdog.”

A Season of Revenge and Resilience

Season 1 was about survival. Season 2 is about domination. “It’s only when the people she loves are affected that she taps into her true power,” says Williams. “We see that begin to surface after Rain (Amber Reign Smith) gets hurt, but it fully shifts when her sister is pulled into this world during Part 2.”

Now, with the power of the Bellarie name behind her, Kimmie is ready to protect her family and claim what’s hers — and no one is safe.

When to Watch

Beauty in Black Season 2 premieres September 11 on Netflix. Just like the first season, it will drop in two parts—giving viewers time to catch their breath between betrayals.
