Locked Door Knocks Out Wanted Fugitive, Leads To Arrest

ORLANDO, Fla. — A fugitive wanted in two states learned the hard way last week that not every door leads to freedom.

Authorities say Deh Yami Wray, facing multiple serious charges in South Carolina and North Carolina — including kidnapping and assault with a firearm — had been on the run until the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) tracked him to a hotel in Orlando.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Task Force moved in, finding Wray in the hotel lobby. That’s when Wray decided to make a break for it. Unfortunately for him, his grand escape ended about three steps later… when he sprinted full speed into a locked door.

Agents say the collision left Wray dazed just long enough for them to move in and make the arrest without a struggle.

Wray, previously considered armed and dangerous, is now behind bars awaiting extradition. Authorities have not confirmed whether the door is pressing charges.
