Black Woman-Owned Brand Redefines Nude Footwear With Inclusive Sandals

For decades, the fashion industry has defined “nude” footwear through a narrow lens—offering only one or two shades of beige that fail to represent the beauty of diverse skin tones. For many women of color, finding nude shoes that truly matched their complexion was frustrating, often leaving them without an option that felt authentic.

Jeneba Barrie, an attorney, mom of three, and entrepreneur, decided to change that. She launched Jeneba Barrie Nude Footwear, a Black woman-owned luxury brand dedicated to creating inclusive nude sandals and pumps designed for women of color.

A Spectrum of Shades

The collection currently offers 13 different nude shades, the most on the market. From light rosè to deep cacao truffle, Barrie’s designs ensure that more women can finally find their “true nude.”

This focus on representation is more than fashion—it’s about equity, visibility, and self-expression. Shoes that complement your skin tone send a message: women of color deserve to be fully seen and celebrated.

From Sierra Leone to Dallas-Fort Worth

Born in Sierra Leone, West Africa, Barrie immigrated to the United States as a child. She went on to study law at Louisiana State University and built a career as an attorney before turning her creative vision into a footwear brand in 2019.

Balancing her roles as a wife, mother, attorney, and entrepreneur, Barrie channels her lived experiences into every design. Her mission is clear: to provide high-quality, versatile nude shoes that reflect the diversity of real women.

Beyond Style: Empowerment Through Representation

Jeneba Barrie Nude Footwear’s sandals and pumps are made to transition seamlessly from the boardroom to brunch to evening outings. But more than versatility, Barrie’s work is about giving women of color a sense of belonging in a market that often excludes them.

Her brand embodies a movement toward inclusivity in fashion—one that challenges outdated norms and expands the definition of beauty.
