Multi-County High-Speed Chase Ends at Durham Hotel

DURHAM, N.C. — What started as a quiet early morning in Orange County erupted into a high-speed chase Thursday, ending with two suspects in custody after a tense pursuit that barreled across county lines and into Durham.

According to the Mebane Police Department, the drama began around 4 a.m. when officers tried to pull over a silver van on Spring Forest Drive near the Hampton Inn. Instead of stopping, the driver hit the gas—igniting a dangerous chase through darkened roads at high speed.

The pursuit tore through Orange County and spilled into Durham, where the van finally screeched to a halt in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn on North Pointe Drive. The driver bolted from the vehicle, sprinting into the night, while the passenger remained behind. Both suspects didn’t get far—officers quickly closed in and made the arrests.

Police say both face charges of fleeing to elude arrest.

While investigators stressed that the public is not in danger, they urged anyone who witnessed the chase or has video of the incident to call their office at 919-563-9031. “Even the smallest detail can make a significant difference in bringing clarity to this incident,” officers said in a statement.

The investigation remains active, and authorities say updates will be released as more information becomes available.
