Halifax County Father & Son Arrested in Major Drug Bust — 17 lbs. Marijuana & Machine Gun Seized
ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — A father and son were arrested after a major drug bust on Neuse River Road in Halifax County that netted over 17 pounds of marijuana, three firearms — including a machine gun — and more than $17,000 in cash. The arrests came after a months-long investigation by the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force.
Search Warrant & Investigation
Agents with the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force, assisted by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, Community Action Team, and Criminal Investigations Division, executed a search warrant around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 4, 2025.

Authorities said the search warrant followed multiple community complaints about suspected drug activity at the residence.
Items Seized
Inside the home, officers discovered:
- 17+ pounds of marijuana stored in clear plastic bags and cannabis-branded mylar packaging
- Three firearms, including one converted to a fully automatic machine gun
- Eight bottles of promethazine
- Dosage units of unknown pills
- Drug paraphernalia and packaging materials
- $17,546 in U.S. currency
Arrests


Investigators arrested Roscoe Sylvester Greene, 48, and his son, Ahmaad De’Angelo Greene, 24, who both live at the residence. A criminal records check revealed Ahmaad is a convicted felon from a 2022 vehicle pursuit with law enforcement.
Charges
Roscoe Greene Faces:
- Felony possession of a machine gun
- Trafficking marijuana
- Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana
- Felony possession of marijuana
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Ahmaad Greene Faces:
- Three counts of possession of firearm by a felon
- Felony possession of a machine gun
- Trafficking marijuana
- Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana
- Felony possession of marijuana
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Both men were given a $35,000 bond and have a Sept. 25 court date.
Authorities later confirmed that the promethazine did not contain codeine and the pills seized were not controlled substances.
