Burlington Man Charged After Stolen Shriner Go-Karts Found Listed on Facebook Marketplace

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A Burlington man is facing multiple felony charges after investigators say he stole custom-made vehicles and equipment from the Burlington Shriner Club’s Fire Brigade and attempted to sell the items online. Detectives later uncovered the stolen go-karts advertised on Facebook Marketplace, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

Investigators Called to Shrine Club After Break-In

On Friday, December 5, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office detectives responded to a reported breaking and entering at the Burlington Shrine Club on Plantation Drive.

The stolen property belonged to the Shriners Fire Brigade, well known in local parades for their custom go-karts.

Detectives determined the following items had been taken:

  • Three custom-made go-karts
  • One Kawasaki minibike
  • Three Predator 212cc engines

Go-Karts Found for Sale Online

During the investigation, detectives discovered the stolen go-karts had been listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

Officials say they quickly identified Na’mir Antonio Hunt as the individual who posted the items.

According to the sheriff’s office, Hunt admitted during an interview that he listed the stolen property online.

Felony Charges Filed After Investigation Expands

Hunt was initially charged with three counts of felony possession of stolen goods or property. As the investigation progressed, detectives uncovered additional evidence, resulting in more charges.

Hunt later turned himself in to authorities on Thursday, December 11.

He now faces:

  • 1 count – felony breaking or entering
  • 4 counts – felony larceny of a motor vehicle
  • 1 count – misdemeanor larceny after breaking and entering
  • 7 counts – felony possession of stolen goods or property

Hunt received a $10,000 secured bond.

  1. How could anyone steal from The Shriners? They do so much good, especially since they have their own hospitals for children that cost nothing to the families!
