Trafficking Arrest At Southpoint: DCSO Seizes Cocaine, Fentanyl & Cash After Stolen Vehicle Tip
DURHAM, NC – A routine stolen vehicle alert turned into a major narcotics bust at Southpoint Mall last week, as the Durham County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) arrested a 25-year-old man and seized 100 grams of cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, paraphernalia, and cash — a significant enforcement action that underscores the agency’s ongoing efforts to disrupt drug trafficking corridors across the county.
Authorities Recover Drugs & Cash After Stolen Acura Found at Southpoint

According to DCSO investigators, the case unfolded on January 3, 2026, when a patrol unit received notification that a vehicle stolen from Chapel Hill had entered the Southpoint Mall parking lot. Deputies located the unoccupied Acura TSX, and observed narcotics and paraphernalia inside the car in plain view.
Using mall surveillance footage, deputies quickly identified the driver and sole occupant. The suspect was found inside a store, detained, and taken into custody without incident.
A subsequent search of the stolen vehicle uncovered:
- 100 grams of cocaine
- Fentanyl
- Marijuana
- Drug paraphernalia
- A large amount of cash
Suspect Held Without Bond

DCSO arrested Jacquarius Isaiah King, 25, of Durham. He was transported to the Durham County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.
King is charged with:
- Trafficking in Cocaine (felony)
- PWIMSD Cocaine (felony)
- Maintain Place Controlled Substance
- Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
- Possession Schedule VI Controlled Substance (misdemeanor)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
