Durham Police File 156 Juvenile Petitions Against Two Teens in Widespread Motor Vehicle Break-In Spree

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham Police have filed 156 juvenile petitions against two juveniles following a weeks-long series of motor vehicle break-ins and thefts across multiple neighborhoods and commercial areas, authorities announced.

What Police Say Happened

According to the Durham Police Department, the incidents occurred between December 10 and December 20, 2025, involving stolen vehicles and dozens of forced entries into parked cars in both residential and commercial locations.

Police say the juveniles are linked to crimes reported in the following areas:

  • 1000 & 1200 blocks of Carroll Street
  • 2000 block of Bedford Street
  • 3200 block of Ivey Wood Lane
  • 3700 block of Hillsborough Road
  • 1500 block of Ellis Road
  • 1900 block of West Park Drive
  • 200 block of Memphis Street
  • 5500 block of NC 55 Highway
  • 5th block of White Spruce Court
  • 400 block of Valley Drive
  • 1900 block of W. Cornwallis Road
  • 100 block of Morris Street

Charges Filed

Each juvenile faces the following charges:

  • (5) counts of felony larceny (Class H)
  • (33) counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle (Class I felony)
  • (4) counts of larceny from a motor vehicle (Class I felony)
  • (36) counts of conspiracy (Class 1 misdemeanor)

Police did not release the juveniles’ names due to their age.

Investigation Continues

Durham Police say detectives are continuing to investigate additional vehicle break-ins and thefts citywide and are working closely with other law enforcement agencies throughout the Triangle.

Police urge residents to take the following precautions:

  • Lock vehicles at all times
  • Park in well-lit areas
  • Remove spare keys, valuables, and firearms
  • Report suspicious activity immediately by calling 911
