Durham Man Arrested, Charged in String of Downtown and University Drive Business Break-Ins

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of overnight business break-ins that targeted multiple commercial properties across the city in late January.

Durham Police say Keith Wright, 30, of Durham, is facing numerous felony charges following an investigation into burglaries that occurred between January 23 and January 28, 2026.

Charges Filed

According to the Durham Police Department, Wright has been charged with:

  • Nine counts of Felony Breaking and Entering

  • Eight counts of Felony Larceny After Breaking and Entering

  • One count of Felony Attempted Breaking and Entering

  • Six counts of Misdemeanor Injury to Real Property

Investigators allege the incidents occurred during overnight hours and involved forced entry into multiple business locations.

Locations Targeted

Police identified the following areas where break-ins were reported:

  • 2000 block of Chapel Hill Road

  • 4100 block of University Drive

  • 1000 block of University Drive

  • 4200 block of University Drive (two incidents)

  • 100 block of East Main Street

  • 100 block of East Chapel Hill Street

  • 800 block of Fayetteville Street (two incidents)

  • 100 block of West Main Street

  • 900 block of West Main Street

The impacted areas include commercial corridors in downtown Durham and along University Drive, both of which are high-traffic business districts.

Investigation Ongoing

Durham Police say the investigation remains active. Detectives are continuing to review evidence and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
