Durham Police Investigating Homicide on Umstead Street
The Durham Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 200 block of East Umstead Street on February 11, 2026.
At approximately 11:57 p.m., an adult male was found on a sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment where he was later pronounced deceased.
The victim was identified as Tavarus Joyner, age 47.
