Wake Forest Man Arrested In Police Chase After Attacking Two Women, Stealing Car

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Wake Forest man accused of attacking two women at shopping centers in Youngsville and Wake Forest was arrested Saturday night following a vehicle chase in Raleigh, according to law enforcement officials.

Anthony Howard Hall II, 40, is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges in connection with the incidents, authorities said.

The first attack occurred around 9:30 p.m. Friday outside the Food Lion – 1160 US-1, where a woman was assaulted while carrying groceries, according to arrest warrants. Investigators said the suspect struck the woman in the head multiple times, causing her to lose consciousness. She suffered a concussion and a hematoma to the back of her head, police said.

Less than 24 hours later, around 3 p.m. Saturday, a second woman was assaulted in the parking lot of Sam’s Club – Royal Cotton Rd, according to a news release from town officials. Authorities said the suspect demanded money before assaulting the woman and knocking her to the ground. A second woman who attempted to intervene was also pushed to the ground.

Officials said a third woman exited her red Nissan Sentra to assist and left her vehicle door open. The suspect then entered the car and drove away.

Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol located the stolen vehicle near the North Hills area of Raleigh. A brief pursuit followed into the shopping district, authorities said. The suspect then fled on foot and was taken into custody after an altercation with a security guard whom he believed to be a law enforcement officer.

In the Wake Forest case, Hall is charged with attempted common law robbery, larceny of a motor vehicle, two counts of assault on a female, and simple assault. In the Youngsville case, he is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, malicious assault in secret, assault inflicting serious injury, and injury to personal property. Additional charges related to the Raleigh chase include resisting a public officer, assault on a government official or employee, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felony fleeing to elude arrest, and hit-and-run causing property damage.

Youngsville police said the attacks were concerning in a community that typically sees low levels of violent crime.

Hall is being held without bond on several assault charges. A $75,000 secured bond was set on the stolen vehicle charge, according to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office. He is currently being held in the Wake County Jail.
