Durham Police Investigating Fatal Train Collision Downtown

The Durham Police Department is investigating a fatal train collision that occurred near the intersection of Mangum and Ramseur Streets on February 16, 2026.

At approximately 1:35 p.m., a passenger train was travelling west as an adult male was on the tracks in its path of travel. The man was struck by the train, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Passengers were on the train at the time of the collision, and no injuries were reported. 

Investigators are on the scene, determining the circumstances surrounding this incident. Additional information will be released at the appropriate time.
