A Neighborhood Block Party — In the Park
Durham Parks and Recreation describes the new program as a neighborhood block party with extra space to play.
Residents can expect:
-
Live DJ music
-
Free food
-
Yard games
-
Recreation activities for all ages
The event will also feature entertainment from DJ FEMI, helping set the tone for an afternoon of music and celebration.
City officials say the goal is to activate neighborhood parks while creating opportunities for families and neighbors to connect close to home.
A New Series for Parks Across Durham
“Party in YOUR Park” is not just a one-time event.
Durham Parks and Recreation plans to host the celebration quarterly at parks throughout the city, giving residents in different neighborhoods the chance to enjoy the experience.
By rotating locations, the program also introduces residents to parks and recreation opportunities they may not have visited before.
The initiative reflects the department’s broader mission to create safe, inclusive spaces where Durham residents can gather, relax, and stay active.
Bringing Community Together in Bull City Parks
Durham Parks and Recreation provides a wide range of programs and activities that support physical wellness, creativity, and social connection throughout the city.
Through events like Party in YOUR Park, the department hopes to encourage residents of all ages to explore Durham’s parks and take advantage of the recreational opportunities available in their neighborhoods.
