Free Medicine Giveaway Coming to Durham and Wake Counties—No ID, No Insurance Required

Access to basic healthcare shouldn’t be a luxury—and for hundreds of families across the Triangle, it won’t be. A major free medicine giveaway is headed to Durham and Wake counties this April, delivering essential over-the-counter medications directly to the community with no insurance, no ID, and no barriers to access.
Free Medicine Events Set for Durham and Wake Counties
NC MedAssist, the state’s only statewide nonprofit pharmacy, is hosting two Mobile Free Pharmacy events:
📍 Durham County Event
- Date: Friday, April 24, 2026
- Time: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Location: The River Church
4425 Ben Franklin Blvd, Durham, NC
📍 Wake County Event
- Date: Saturday, April 25, 2026
- Time: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Location: Poole Family YMCA
2110 Aversboro Rd, Garner, NC
What You Can Get—for Free

Residents can take home a wide range of over-the-counter medications, including:
- Allergy relief
- Cough and cold medicine
- Pain relievers
- Vitamins
- Children’s medications
- And more
No appointment is required, and there are no income restrictions.
How the Program Works
Attendees have two options:
✔ Walk-up service on event day
✔ Preorder medications online for faster pickup
Preorder deadlines:
- Durham: April 17 or until capacity (500 orders). Click here to preorder medications.
- Wake: April 18 or until capacity (500 orders). Click here to preorder medications.
Even if preorder slots fill up, walk-ups are still welcome.
Who Can Participate

The program is designed to eliminate barriers to care:
- Must be 18 years or older
- No ID required
- No insurance required
- Open to everyone
