Raleigh PD Make Arrest Of Man Impersonating Police Officer

RALEIGH, N.C. — On March 19, 2026, at approximately 7:22 p.m., the Raleigh Police Department received a report that a suspect, identified as Meredith Cromartie, allegedly impersonated a law enforcement officer and conducted a traffic stop involving the victim. Following this incident, Cromartie is accused of continuing to contact the victim and was reportedly seen driving near the victim’s residence. Warrants for impersonating a law enforcement officer were subsequently issued in Wake County.

As the investigation progressed, it was further alleged that an additional incident occurred on March 18, 2026, at 6250 Capital Boulevard.  During this incident, Cromartie forced the victim into unwanted sexual contact.

On March 23, 2026, Cromartie turned himself in to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.  He was served with the outstanding charges from Wake County.
