This Week’s “Wow!” Stevie Boi: Luxury Unisex Eye-wear & Accessory Designer

Wow!  That’s the first reaction when you spot  a “dope” outfit or accessory.  Spectacular Magazine’s new feature, This Week’s Wow!, will highlight national and local fashion designers who are bringing the Wow!

Stevie Boi is a New York City- based fashion designer, actor and founder of the luxury eye-wear line & Brand SBShades. Boi designs and sells unisex eye-wear and accessories on his website and in select luxury boutique stores across the globe. Stevie has designed eye-wear for stars such as Kesha ,Beyonce, Madonna, Britney Spears, Katy Perry and  many more. 

Stevie Boi was born in Augusta, Georgia but raised overseas. He grew up with parents who were in the Army and traveled a lot during his childhood. He started designing in 2007 and quit his job with the military to start his business selling eye-wear. Boi’s big break was landing his eye-wear on the cover of Vogue magazine in 2012. Since then Boi’s products/designs have been featured in over 900+ Publications/Media Sources. He now is preparing to move into TV and film by acting and pursuing costume design.

Spectacular Magazine (SM) had the opportunity to get to know a little more about Stevie Boi (SB):

SM: Who was and/or what were your inspiration for your designs?

SB: I always say Grace Jones. But my latest inspiration has come from me wanting to challenge myself. 

SM: Tell us about your latest collection.

SB: My latest collection is Y2K inspired. The collection is all about the future. I wanted to do something that reminded me and people of the moments of transitioning into the future.

SM: What was the biggest rookie mistake you made when just starting out?

SB: The biggest thing I did was randomly send thousands of products out to random magazine’s without budgeting myself. I should have tracked more of my products and not let others take advantage of getting free products.

SM: What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?

SB: I can work with any materials. Designing is pretty easy to me. That is why I like to challenge myself. My biggest weakness is accepting too much work at one time.

SM: Where do you see yourself in the next ten years?

SB: I see myself owning 5 businesses. Opening two restaurants and also having a best-seller novel.

SM: What do you enjoy doing other than designing?

SB: I love to hang out with my friends and just brainstorm creative stuff.  Being creative is an everyday thing for me. I do not do it just for work.

SM: If you could have dinner with any famous person, who would you choose and why?

SB: I would love to sit with President Obama and ask him how he remained cool in our stage of America. I think he would give good advice.
