BREAKING NEWS: Durham School Board Member Minnie Forte-Brown Not Seeking Re-Election
Durham, NC – Durham Public Schools Board of Education member Minnie Forte-Brown confirmed to Spectacular Magazine today (Dec. 11) that she will not seek re-election, deciding instead to past the baton and mentor another courageous leader.
Forte-Brown released the following statement:
It’s in OUR HANDS
For the past 16 years, it has been an honor and privilege to serve as a member of the Durham Public Schools Board of Education representing Consolidated District A, while courageously advocating for ALL Bull City students, teachers, staff, and families. Thank YOU!
While I am still an advocate for education, I have chosen not to run for re-election. It is time…..time to pass the baton and mentor another courageous leader. My time has been GLORIOUS. My family, friends, and community have supported me and God has blessed me to rise to state and national prominence. I have served as chair of DPSBOE, Chair of the NSBA Council of Urban Boards of Education, NCSBA Board of Directors, NCSBA President, and currently the Southern Region Director for the NSBA.
I am honored to have served my beloved Bull City and leave my district On Top! DPS has a marvelous superintendent, a powerful board that respects each other, an excellent teaching core, committed administrators and superbly competent and loyal staff. Our students are BRILLIANT!! We still have goals to reach and we will continue to work to achieve those goals.
GO FORTH BULL CITY … KEEP RISING TO THE TOP‼
Educationally Yours,
Minnie Forte-Brown
