The Carolina Times Publisher Kenneth W. Edmonds Passes
Durham, NC – Kenneth W. Edmonds, Publisher of The Carolina Times, passed on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at the age of 66. Edmonds has served as publisher of the prominent newspaper since 1971. He carried on the legacy of his grandfather, Louis E. Austin, who ran The Carolina Times from 1927 until his death in 1971.
The Carolina Times, one of the most important African-American newspaper in North Carolina, has been a powerful voice for black North Carolinians during an era of intense racial segregation until today.
Funeral arrangements for Edmonds, under the direction of Fisher Memorial Funeral Parlor, are incomplete at this time.
