[Trailer] “Work It” – Netflix’s New Dance Comedy Film Produced By Alicia Keys

Netflix has released the official trailer for Laura Terruso’s upcoming coming-of-age dance comedy film titled “Work It” featuring former Disney Channel star Sabrina Carpenter and YouTube sensation Liza Koshy as they try to form a dance team of underdogs. Produced by Grammy winner Alicia Keys, the film will be available for streaming on Friday, August 7. 

The film’s official synopsis reads: “When Quinn Ackerman’s (Carpenter) admission to the college of her dreams depends on her performance at a dance competition, she forms a ragtag group of dancers to take on the best squad in school…now she just needs to learn how to dance.”  Check out the trailer below!

 

“Work It” is directed by Laura Terruso from a screenplay written by Alison Peck. This film will also mark Carpenter’s second collaboration with the streaming giant after appearing in last year’s rom-com film “Tall Girl.”

From the makers of “To All the Boys Who Loved Me” and The Kissing Boothe, the film looks set to offer up some serious ‘Step Up’ vibes.

Work ItIn the trailer, Quinn and her friend Jas (Koshy) recruit an unlikely bunch of performers, including a three-time competition-winning choreographer (Jordan Fisher), someone they found on social media and a Conan O’Brien lookalike who’s supposedly great at doing flips.

This isn’t Liza’s first experience with acting though. She starred as Violet Adams in the Hulu series Freakish from 2016 to 2017. It’s been reported that the film will also have a comedy aspect to it — which comes by no surprise considering Liza is one of the funniest YouTubers there is.

Jordan is no stranger to dancing professionally. The 25-year-old Liv and Maddie alum has starred in musicals like “Teen Beach Movie”, “Teen Beach 2”, “Grease Live”, “Rent: Live”, and “Hamilton” on Broadway! He’s also already a part of the Netflix fam, as he is starring in the upcoming sequel of “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before”.

The cast also includes stand-up comedian Michelle Buteau (“Always Be My Maybe”), who plays the straight-talking college admissions administrator, Keiynan Lonsdale (“The Flash”, Love, Simon), and Drew Ray Tanner.
