Tiffany Newsome Named Principal of Rashkis Elementary
CHAPEL HILL, NC – Earlier last evening (August 20), the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education named Tiffany Newsome as Principal of Rashkis Elementary.
Newsome is well-known in the community, having served the school district at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. She is currently the Assistant Principal at McDougle Elementary, where she has served since 2017. Newsome’s administrative internship was done at Smith Middle. Prior to entering administration, she taught at Chapel Hill High, and also in Wake County.
“We are very pleased to announce Tiffany as Principal of Rashkis Elementary,” said Interim Superintendent Jim Causby. “She brings an ideal combination of energy and initiative that inspires those around her. I am excited to work with her in this capacity.”
Newsome earned her Bachelor of Arts at Wake Forest University and her Master of School Administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is currently working on her Educational Doctorate at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Tiffany Newsome will begin her new assignment on September 1.
On July 30, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education Board of Education approved a recommendation to adjust their back-to-school plan. All students will now learn on the full-virtual option for the entire first semester, rather than nine weeks as previously stated.
