Lady Wolfpack Handles Boston College Easily at Home

RALEIGH, N.C. – After nearly being upset by the Boston College Eagles in December, the North Carolina State Wolfpack dominated their visitors to get the 76-57 victory in Reynold’s Coliseum.

The Wolfpack (10-0, 5-0 ACC) took a nine-point lead into the locker room at halftime after a tough battle with the Eagles throughout the entire first half. Two Wolfpack players Jakia Brown-Tuner and Elissa Cunane both ended the half in double figures.  Brown-Turner ending the half with 14 points, while Cunane ended with ten.

NC State forwards Kayla Jones and Jada Boyd played a very quiet game, both putting up under ten points apiece throughout the game.  Boyd with 10 points and eight rebounds. While Jones scored six points, four rebounds, and three assists.

Elissa Cunane showcased her ability to run the floor in Sunday’s game. The junior center was 9-for-9, with 24 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and three steals, to finish out the game. Fellow teammate, Raina Perez had an amazing game as well against the Eagles. Perez scored 16 points, had four rebounds, nine assists, and three steals.

Boston College (4-4, 0-4 ACC) played their first game on Sunday since December 20th, where they took on Syracuse. The team had more confidence going into Sunday’s game versus the Wolfpack than their previous matchup on December 13th. With all the weapons that the Wolfpack possesses the Eagles remained right on their tails from the first quarter to fourth.

Eagles forward Ally Vantimmeren made her debut Sunday afternoon, scoring against some of the best players in the conference. The freshman came in straight off the bench, playing a total of 17 minutes with ten points and six rebounds.

Boston College was led by guard Taylor Soule who ended the game with 14 points and six rebounds. Fellow Eagle guard Clara Ford led with seven rebounds and guard Makayla Dickens with two assists.

NC State will look to keep their momentum going as they travel to Cassel Coliseum to take on Virginia Tech Sunday, January 7th at 8 pm. The game will be aired live on ACCNX.
