St. Augustine’s University To Celebrate 155th Fall Convocation And Freshmen Induction

RALEIGH, NC – Thursday, September 16, 2021, will mark the Saint Augustine’s University community’s 155th Fall Convocation and Freshmen Induction. This also marks the formal opening of the University and will feature author and journalist Adam Harris as the guest speaker.

Adam Harris is a staff writer at the Atlantic where he has covered education and national politics since 2018. He is the author of “The State Must Provide: Why America’s Colleges Have Always Been Unequal—and How to Set Them Right”, a narrative history of racial inequality in higher education. Previously, Harris served as a reporter at the Chronicle of Higher Education, where he covered federal education policy and historically black colleges and universities. In 2021, he was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, and he is a National Fellow at New America. Harris’s writing has appeared in BBC, B/R Mag, EBONY Magazine, and ProPublica. He is an alumnus of Alabama A&M University where he studied political science.

The ceremony will take place in person at the University Quadrangle. Socially distant seating will be provided. The event will also be live-streamed for all friends and family of SAU on the University’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
