Clemson Sends Wolfpack Packing After Win
BROOKLYN, NY – The Clemson Tigers (17-15, 8-12 ACC) advanced to the 2nd round of the ACC Tournament after a win against the North Carolina State Wolfpack (11-21, 4-16 ACC), 70-64. The Tiger’s largest lead was 11, and they out-rebounded the Wolfpack 47-41.
“Even though we were undermanned, they competed as hard as they could with the opportunities given to them,” said head coach Kevin Keatts when asked about his team’s toughness.
N.C. State’s star point guard, sophomore Dereon Seabron, had an amazing performance, recording a double-double. The ACC’s Most Improved Player was stuffing the stat sheet, scoring a game-high 19 points with 12 rebounds and 4 assists away from a triple-double. He was the leading force in a potential comeback for the Wolfpack in the second half, but the Tigers always had an answer.
The future NBA prospect season may have come to a close, however, Seabron’s future is uncertain.
“I’m not focused on that right now, but when the time comes, I’m going to sit down with my coach and my family, and we’ll see what’s the best decision,” said Seabron.
Seabron’s performance was aided by senior forward Jericole Hellems, pitching in with 13 points and 8 rebounds.
The Clemson Tigers have been on a roll, winning five straight games.
PJ Hall was the leading force for the Tigers. The sophomore forward had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. He was also the anchor on defense with 4 blocks. That makes 8 total blocks in both meetings against the Wolfpack.
Hall’s teammates were a big help, especially from the 3-point line. Junior guard Nick Honor scored 13 points, and junior guard Al-Amir Dawes scored 12 points off the bench. The duo combined for 15 points from deep.
The Tigers will face the Virginia Tech Hokies (19-12, 11-9 ACC) tomorrow at 7:00 pm EST.
