Duke Basketball Announces 2022-23 Non-Conference Schedule
DURHAM, N.C. — The Duke men’s basketball program has unveiled the team’s 2022-23 non-conference schedule, as the Blue Devils prepare for the first season under head coach Jon Scheyer.
Three of the games have previously been announced, while the bracket for the Phil Knight Legacy in Portland is still to come. The Blue Devils will face 2022 National Champion Kansas in the State Farm Champions Classic on Tuesday, Nov. 15 in Indianapolis, will host Ohio State for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Wednesday, Nov. 30, and battle Iowa in the Jimmy V Classic on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Madison Square Garden.
The balance of Duke’s 11-game non-conference slate begins when the Blue Devils welcome Jacksonville to Cameron Indoor Stadium for the season-opener on Monday, Nov. 7. The opening week of Scheyer’s tenure also includes a matchup with USC Upstate on Friday, Nov. 11 at Cameron Indoor.
Following the Kansas game, Duke returns home for two – versus Delaware on Friday, Nov. 18, and Bellarmine on Monday, Nov. 21 – before the Phil Knight Legacy begins on Thursday, Nov. 24 in Portland.
A game versus Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday, Dec. 10 caps the pre-conference schedule.
Duke’s first event at Cameron Indoor Stadium in 2022-23 is Countdown to Craziness on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. Fayetteville State will serve as the lone exhibition game, which is set for Wednesday, Nov. 2 at Cameron Indoor at 7 p.m.
The ACC schedule has yet to be announced, but Duke will welcome North Carolina, Wake Forest, Boston College, Miami, NC State, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Louisville, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh to Cameron Indoor. On the road, the Blue Devils will battle North Carolina, Wake Forest, Boston College, Miami, NC State, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Syracuse and Virginia.
Season ticket renewals for the 2022-23 season will begin on August 1 and the Duke MBB Waitlist will open on October 1. Wednesday, Nov. 2 vs. Fayetteville State (Exhibition)
Duke and Fayetteville State have never met … the Broncos were 21-9 overall last year, 13-3 in the CIAA, won the CIAA Tournament and reached the NCAA Division-II Tournament
Monday, Nov. 7 vs. Jacksonville (Cameron Indoor Stadium)
Duke has won 22 straight season openers … Duke and Jacksonville have never met … the Dolphins were 21-10 overall last season, 11-5 in the ASUN and lost to Bellarmine in the ASUN title game … second-year head coach Jordan Mincy was a four-year player at Kent State, which included him playing a game at Cameron Indoor on Dec. 19, 2006 – a 79-72 Duke victory

Duke leads the overall series 8-5, but is 1-2 vs. the Jayhawks in the Champions Classic … the teams last met in the 2019 Champions Classic at MSG – a 68-66 Duke win … each of the last six meetings in the series have been Top 25 matchups, with five being Top 10 affairs … Duke has won five of its last eight and seven of its last 12 when facing the previous year’s national champion
Friday, Nov. 18 vs. Delaware (Cameron Indoor Stadium)
Duke leads the overall series 2-0 with both games coming at Cameron Indoor – Dec. 1, 2012 (88-50) and Dec. 19, 1995 (79-73) … the Blue Hens were 22-13 overall last year and 10-8 in the CAA … Delaware won the CAA Tournament and fell to Villanova in the first round of the NCAA Tournament … seventh-year head coach Martin Ingelsby was an assistant coach at Notre Dame and played for the Irish from 1998-2001
Monday, Nov. 21 vs. Bellarmine (Cameron Indoor Stadium)
Duke won the only previous meeting with Bellarmine, 76-54, on Dec. 4, 2020, at Cameron Indoor … Bellarmine’s pre-conference schedule in 2022-23 also includes road games at Louisville, Clemson, UCLA and Kentucky … the Knights were 20-13 overall last season and beat Jacksonville in the ASUN title game … with the program in its second of a four-year transitional period from Division-II to D-I, the Knights, although winning their conference tournament, were prohibited from the NCAA Tournament due to NCAA rules
Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 24-27 – Phil Knight Legacy (Portland, Ore.)
The eight-team men’s field includes the Blue Devils, along with Florida, Gonzaga, Oregon State, Portland State, Purdue, West Virginia and Xavier … the bracket is still to be announced … Duke won the previous version of the Phil Knight Legacy, the PK80, beating Portland State, Texas and Florida in Portland in 2017-18
Wednesday, Nov. 30 vs. Ohio State (ACC/Big Ten Challenge; Cameron Indoor Stadium)
The all-time series is tied 4-4 … the teams have met just once previously at Cameron Indoor – a 73-68 Duke victory on Nov. 28, 2012, as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge … OSU won last year’s ACC/Big Ten meeting in Columbus, 71-66 … Duke is 19-4 all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge (9-1 at home), the most wins and highest winning percentage of teams from either conference
Tuesday, Dec. 6 vs. Iowa (Jimmy V Classic; New York, N.Y.)
