Spectacular Magazine is seeking aspiring news reporters, social justice advocates, sports reporters, and content creators who want hands-on experience in the field of journalism/media production.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research, report, write and help create compelling articles and social media posts serving the Triangle-area audience that seeks takeaways/reactions from community events as well as information on how events impact the community.
- Produce at least two (2) articles/videos per week.
- Make it a mission to inform and engage readers through swift, insightful reporting.
- Work with editors and coworkers to shape articles/social media posts to meet audience needs and interests on every platform.
- Research new events and event information to be potentially covered.
- Connect with the audience through social media.
- Shadow reporters and learn digital and video skills.
- Learn how headlines, SEO, social posts, and effective mobile writing techniques help extend the reach of content.
- Collaborate with the visual team to provide all the appropriate elements for stories (i.e. photos, videos, and graphics).
- Capture basic photos and videos as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- Able to work in Durham, NC
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, adaptable and flexible
- Ability to multi-task and work well in a team environment
- Excellent organizational, analytical and oral and written communication skills
- Technical skills required for multiple aspects of the role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs
- Know how to use major social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, & Instagram)
- Self-starter who takes initiative with enthusiasm in creating their work
- Must be energetic and very proactive, someone who welcomes a challenge and is able to work in a fast-moving, demanding, flexible environment with limited day-to-day supervision
