Duke falls once again on the road in loss to Miami

CORAL GABLES, FL — Norchad Omier recorded 17 points and 10 rebounds as the No. 17 ranked Miami Hurricanes defeated Duke 81-59 at home on Tuesday evening in Watsco Center.

The Blue Devils (17-7, 8-5 ACC) are now just 2-5 on the road this year in conference matchups and have now lost their third road game by double-figures. With the win, the Canes remain undefeated at home on the season.

The Blue Devils came into this one fresh off a nail-biting 63-57 victory over rival North Carolina on Saturday. Meanwhile on the same day, Miami gave Clemson their first home loss of the year in a close win on the road.

These two teams met up back on Jan. 21 when Duke won in the final minute after a missed last-second heave from the Canes gave the Blue Devils a two-point win.

The tone of this game was drastically different than it was two weeks ago in Cameron Indoor Stadium as Miami jumped out to a 10-1 run in the first three minutes. Duke would not lead once in this game and went into halftime down 14.

Canes forward Jordan Miller dominated in the first half — where he scored 14 of his 16 points. The second half was no different as the Blue Devils trailed by as much as 26. Dereck Lively II led Duke with 11 points, six rebounds and five blocks.

Miami (19-5, 10-4 ACC) is now 16-0 when winning the rebound battle — which they dominated tonight 38-31.

Duke looks to bounce back in a tough matchup on Saturday on the road against No. 8 Virginia at 4 PM ET on ESPN.
