NC State Signs ASU Transfer DJ Horne

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State men’s basketball head coach Kevin Keatts announced Thursday that the Pack has added DJ Horne to the program.

“I’m excited to bring DJ back to his hometown for his final season of collegiate eligibility,” Keatts said. “You watch him play and the first thing that jumps out to you is that he’s a shot maker, and he’s not afraid of taking the big shots in clutch moments. He’s averaged in double figures scoring his last three seasons so you know he can fill it up, but he’s more than just a shooter. He’s an intelligent player, and he can use his athleticism to create for himself and others.

Off the court, DJ is a great young man, and I think he will walk into our locker room and immediately be a leader and have a veteran presence that we need.”

Horne is from Raleigh and played his senior year at Trinity Christian. As a senior in the 2018-19 season, he was named first team all-state by the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association as he helped lead Trinity Christian to the state semifinals of the NCISSA Tournament. He played his junior season at Cary High School, averaging 18 points per game and helping lead Cary to the state championship game.

Horne comes to the Pack after spending his last two seasons at Arizona State. He averaged 12.5 points per game last season, starting 33 of 34 games for the Sun Devils. He made 72 three-pointers on the season, was second on the team in assists and third in steals.

He led the Sun Devils in scoring in the 2021-22 season, averaging 12.5 points per game and shot 35.5 percent from three-point range, making 73 three-pointers.

Horne came to Arizona State after two seasons at Illinois State. As a sophomore with the Redbirds, he averaged 15.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. He was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman team after averaging 8.7 points per game in his first collegiate season.

Overall, in his collegiate career, Horne has made 253 three-pointers and has shot 37.9 percent from long-range.
