Raleigh Police Investigate Robbery and Larceny of Vehicle – Arrest Made
RALEIGH – At approximately 2:05 pm on Thursday (May 11), the Raleigh Police Department responded to a report of a larceny of a vehicle call in the 2500 block of Lineberry Drive. The stolen vehicle, a Ford F-450, is owned by the city of Raleigh and equipped with GPS. The vehicle was tracked to the area of Crabtree Valley Mall, where the suspect crashed the stolen City of Raleigh vehicle on an upper floor of a parking deck.
The suspect then stole a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer operated by an adult female. The suspect pulled the victim from the vehicle during the theft and threw her to the ground. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.
The stolen vehicle was equipped with Onstar technology that allowed the vehicle to be tracked and disabled remotely. Officers apprehended the adult male suspect and took him into custody in the 2500 block of Fairview Road.
The suspect, Thomas Kyle Cauther, 30, was charged with Robbery, Felony Larceny of a Vehicle, Felony Probation Violation, Flee to Elude, and Resist, Delay, and Obstruct.
