The Carolina Theatre To Host Free Retro Family Days During Summer 2023

DURHAM, NC – The Carolina Theatre of Durham will host Free Retro Family Days during Summer 2023. The film series features free screenings of animated films on select Saturdays in July and August for the whole family to enjoy.  

Retro FamilyThe four films in the series include “The Muppet Movie,” “The Emperor’s New Groove,” “The Prince of Egypt,” and “How to Train Your Dragon.”  

“We love fans of our film series,” says Jim Carl, Senior Director of Film at the Carolina Theatre of Durham. “As a thank you to the community for supporting our nonprofit theater, we wanted to treat our patrons to free screenings of some of our favorite family-friendly films.”   

Tickets will be available for pick up thirty minutes before the box office opens the day of the screening. The full Free Retro Family Days schedule can be found at carolinatheatre.org. 

Free Retro Family Days are part of the theater’s Retro Film Series, which hosts double features of classic films most Friday nights and includes several sub-series of films like Disney-Quest Film Series, featuring classic animated Disney films; NC Comicon: Bull City, which celebrates movies based on or inspired by classic comic books; and Kaiju-Quest Film Series, a Japanese-genre focused on big monsters.
