Durham Police Investigate 2 Separate Fatal Tuesday Shootings, One Involving A 17-Year-Old

DURHAM, NC – The Durham Police Department is investigating two fatal shootings that occurred on Tuesday evening; one in the area of W. Umstead Street and South Street and the other in the 400 block of W Club Blvd. 

Umstead Street and South Street

At approximately 09:54 p.m. on April 30, officers responded to the report of gunshots in the area of South Street. When officers arrived, they found one 17 year old juvenile male with a gunshot wound. Officers found a second victim, an adult female, with a gunshot wound. EMS transported the victims to a local hospital, where the juvenile male was pronounced deceased. The adult female victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation and appears to be an isolated incident. Additional information will be released at the appropriate time.

400 block of W Club Blvd. 

Later on April 30, at approximately 11:45 p.m., officers responded to the reported shooting in the 400 block of W Club Blvd. When officers arrived, they found three adult males with gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as Thomas Holloway Jr., 51, of Durham.

EMS transported the remaining two victims to a local hospital; both sustained life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are on the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident, which appears to be isolated. Additional information about these shootings will be released at the appropriate time.
