“Old Skool” Hip Hop Coming To Raleigh To Raise Funds For Sickle Cell

Hollywood, Fla. — Celebrity Chef to the Stars Jerome Brown is bringing “Old Skool” hip hop to Raleigh NC on July 7th to celebrate his 50th birthday with a White Party. There will be performances by Hip Hop legends Big Daddy Kane, Kool Mo Dee, Kwame and Rob Base. Other surprise celebrity guests are expected to attend.

Brown, a native of Rocky Mount, NC, is also the Brand Ambassador for the Foundation for Sickle Cell Disease Research (FSCDR). Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that’s prevalent among those of African descent. It affects one in 396 African Americans, with one in 14 carrying the sickle cell trait.

The Hip Hop community and stars like LeBron James, Puffy, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar are mourning the recent death of rapper Prodigy, who lived with Sickle Cell Disease and chronicled much of his suffering through his iconic music.

The Foundation for Sickle Cell Disease Research has received national recognition as the only center in the United States dedicated solely to sickle cell. The non-profit’s goal is to generate funding to build more centers nationwide so that more patients across the country can receive specialized care.

Most patients are mistreated while seeking care, due to many medical professionals’ misunderstanding of the disease and true needs of sickle cell patients.

Chef Jerome Brown and FSCDR want all who can to come make new memories while jamming to their favorite songs and push sickle cell closer to finding a cure. Forty thousand dollars is expected to be raised.

Dress Code: Ladies and gentlemen are to wear white formal or cocktail clothing with preferably red shoes, but black, white or gold shoes are also acceptable.

*No athletic wear is accepted at entry; hats are acceptable, but no baseball caps.
