Multiple Arrests Made in Connection to Fatal Shooting at Durham Cook Out
DURHAM, NC – This morning (Nov. 22), Durham County Sheriff Clarence F. Birkhead announced the arrests of three individuals in connection with the homicide of 29-year-old Davicia Jean Ann Lee, which occurred last month at the Cook Out in the 1500 block of South Miami Boulevard.
Yesterday, November 21, detectives from the Durham County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID), with assistance from the Anti-Crime and Narcotics Unit (SAC/Narc) and the STRIKE team, executed felony warrants on two individuals in Durham.
Arrest Details

Alexander Kenyon Carlton Jr., 23, of Durham, NC
- Calvin Jerade Spence Jr., 18, of Durham, NC
Both suspects were arrested without incident and are currently held in the Durham County Detention Center without bond. They face the following charges:
- First-Degree Murder
- Felony Conspiracy
- Carrying a Concealed Gun
- Going Armed to the Terror of the People
Carlton and Spence are scheduled to make their first court appearances this morning.
A third individual, Jamari Treyvon McKnight, 18, was also arrested last night by the Morrisville Police Department and charged with Going Armed to the Terror of the People. He is currently being held in the Wake County Detention Center pending his first appearance.

The investigation remains active, and findings are being prepared for review by the Durham County District Attorney’s Office.

- October 26, 2024: Deputies responded to a reported shooting at a Cook Out restaurant in the 1500 block of South Miami Boulevard just after 10:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found one victim, Davicia Jean Ann Lee, deceased at the scene.
- October 27, 2024: The Sheriff’s Office identified Lee as the victim and confirmed the incident appeared to be isolated.
