Caesars Virginia Casino Opening Delayed 5 Days; Dennis Rodman to Highlight Grand Event
DANVILLE, VA — The highly anticipated $750 million Caesars Virginia Casino Resort, located near the North Carolina border, has rescheduled its grand opening to December 17, 2024. Initially planned for December 12, no specific reason was given for the five-day delay.
Situated just 80 miles from Raleigh and 57 miles from Durham, the resort promises to be a premier entertainment destination featuring 1,400 slot machines, over 80 live table games, and a luxurious 320-room hotel.
The festivities will begin at 10:15 a.m. on December 17 with a spectacular parade of race cars and supercars provided by Virginia International Raceway, Kaizen Autosport, and Foreign Cars Italia. The parade will wind through the streets of Danville, starting at Main and Craghead Streets and concluding at Caesars Virginia.
Basketball legend Dennis Rodman, a five-time NBA Champion and Hall of Fame rebounder will serve as the parade’s master of ceremonies and make the ceremonial first bet at Caesars Sportsbook. At 11 a.m., executives from Caesars Entertainment and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians will join community leaders at the resort’s main entrance for remarks, with doors officially opening to the public at noon.
The celebration will continue into the evening with breathtaking fireworks and drone display at 8 p.m., illuminating the sky above the resort and Danville’s historic “Three Sisters” smokestacks.
The state-of-the-art resort will also include a Caesars entertainment venue and conference center capable of hosting up to 2,500 guests for concerts and events, following the model of other Caesars properties nationwide. Meanwhile, the temporary Danville Casino operating in the resort’s parking lot will remain open to visitors until the new facility’s launch.
Caesars Virginia aims to deliver an unforgettable entertainment experience, cementing its status as a major destination for gaming, luxury, and live events in the Southeast.
