MEAC Tournament Seedings Announced: NCCU Men’s and Women’s Teams Ready for Action
NORFOLK, VA – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) has revealed the seedings and matchups for its 2025 Basketball Tournament, setting the stage for an exciting week of competition at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va. The North Carolina Central University (NCCU) men’s and women’s basketball teams are poised to make a strong push as they take their first steps in the postseason.
Eagles’ Men’s Team Earns No. 6 Seed
On the men’s side, NCCU has secured the No. 6 seed after finishing the season with a 13-18 overall record and 6-8 in conference play. They are set to face No. 3 Delaware State in a quarterfinal matchup on Thursday, March 13, tipping off at 8 p.m. The two teams split their regular-season meetings, each winning on their home court. This rematch promises high intensity as the Eagles look to advance beyond last year’s semifinal exit, which saw the Hornets prevail 71-58.
NCCU Women Draw No. 5 Seed
NCCU’s women’s basketball team also heads into the tournament with optimism after securing No. 5 in the seedings. The Eagles, with a 9-20 overall record (6-8 MEAC), will face No. 4 Coppin State on Thursday, March 13, at noon. Coppin State ended the season at 17-13 (8-6 MEAC) and narrowly edged NCCU in the standings after a tiebreaker with Maryland Eastern Shore.
