Fort Bragg Holds Ribbon Cutting to Open New Career Resource Center

Fayetteville, NC – Secretary Larry Hall, head of the NC Department of Military and Veterans Affairs joined the Fort Bragg’s Soldier for Life Transition Assistance Program, in partnership with Columbia Sothern Education Group, on July 20th to launch a new Career Resource Center on the Base. The ribbon cutting ceremony took place in the Fort Bragg’s Modular Village.

The new Career Resource Center will provide current service members, veterans and their families the skills needed to successfully transition into the civilian workforce for new employment opportunities.

Companies partnering with the training program included CVS Health, Charter Communications, Onward to Opportunity, North Carolina State University Agriculture Institute, North Carolina Truck Driving Training School, Adaptive Construction Solutions and Veteran Assembled Electronics.

Government and business leaders in attendance for the ribbon cutting ceremony included Robert Mayes, President of Columbia Southern University and Lisa Bisaccia with CVS Health.

During his remarks, Secretary Hall stressed the value that veterans bring to the private sector thanks to the skill and training that they receive during their time in military service. Secretary Hall also pointed out that pairing veterans with engaged partners in the private sector is a win-win for the state of North Carolina and the country as a whole.

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), created in 2015, focuses on protecting North Carolina’s military installations, working with the communities around military bases, helping military families and veterans get the support and services they need, and helping connect veterans with jobs.

The goals of the DMVA Military Division are:

  • Goal 1:   Protect North Carolina’s existing military installations and missions
  • Goal 2:   Expand defense related economic development in North Carolina
  • Goal 3:   Improve quality of life for military members and families
  • Goal 4:   Provide legislative and state agency coordination for military related             issues
  • Goal 5:   Lead the state’s efforts to prepare for the next base realignment and             closure (BRAC) process.
