Arrest Made in Raleigh Truist Bank Robbery Months After Heist

RALEIGH, NC – It took months of investigative work, but Raleigh police have made an arrest connected to the daring daytime robbery at a Truist Bank on Avent Ferry Road. The November 2024 incident, which left many in the area stunned, involved a suspect passing a threatening note to bank staff and fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Now, authorities say the man they believe responsible has been located — hundreds of miles from the crime scene.

On Friday, April 25, 2025, Shawn Michael Travis, 32, was arrested at a hotel in Illinois in connection with the robbery.

Travis faces a charge of Common Law Robbery and is currently awaiting extradition back to North Carolina to face prosecution.

The original robbery occurred on November 1, 2024, just after 5:00 PM, at the Truist Bank located at 3231 Avent Ferry Road, Suite 104.

According to police, the suspect entered the bank, passed a note demanding money, and implied he had a weapon — although no weapon was ever displayed. He fled the scene with cash, leaving investigators to comb through evidence and tips for months before tracking him down.
