Rocky Mount Police Bust Major Drug Operation, Seize Guns and $6K in Cash
Narcotics search warrant leads to two arrests, 25 lbs. of marijuana seized at Windchime Ct. residence in Rocky Mount

ROCKY MOUNT, NC — A joint effort between the Rocky Mount Police Department’s Special Operations Division and the local community has resulted in the disruption of a significant drug trafficking operation.
On the evening of July 10, 2025, officers executed a narcotics search warrant at 120 Windchime Court, following an investigation that began in June after Malachi Lawrence, 19, was previously arrested with over 300 grams of marijuana.
During the search, investigators recovered:
- 25.15 pounds of marijuana
- $6,045 in U.S. currency
- Drug paraphernalia
- Two firearms: a Glock 9mm and a Glock .40 caliber handgun
Arrests & Charges


As a result of the operation, Malachi Lawrence and Darious Higgs, both 19, were arrested and now face multiple felony charges:
Malachi Lawrence:
- Trafficking Marijuana (Felony)
- Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Marijuana (Felony)
- Maintaining a Dwelling for the Sale of Controlled Substances (Felony)
- Possession of Marijuana (Felony)
- Resist, Obstruct, and Delay a Public Officer (Misdemeanor)
Darious Higgs:
- Trafficking Marijuana (Felony)
- Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Marijuana (Felony)
- Maintaining a Dwelling for the Sale of Controlled Substances (Felony)
- Possession of Marijuana (Felony)
Both suspects are currently being held without bond.
