Hillsborough Men Arrested in Major Drug Bust Near Elementary School
HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — A month-long investigation by the Hillsborough Police Department and Orange County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of two men and the seizure of drugs, firearms, and distribution equipment from a home located just steps away from Central Elementary School.

On Friday, September 5, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Foust Street, uncovering a substantial drug operation. Investigators seized:
- 1.5 pounds of marijuana
- 20 grams of crack and powder cocaine
- 0.9 grams of fentanyl
- Two firearms, including one confirmed stolen
- Drug distribution equipment
- Cash
Authorities arrested Jarrod Royster, 38, and Arnold Poteat, 32, both of Hillsborough. Officials emphasized the danger posed by the suspects’ proximity to schools.

Royster 
Poteat Royster faces multiple charges, including:
- Two counts of selling narcotics within 1,000 feet of a school
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
- Possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and marijuana
- Possession of a stolen firearm
- Maintaining a dwelling for drug sales
Royster is being held without bond at the Orange County Detention Center.
- Poteat faces charges including:
- Two counts of selling narcotics within 1,000 feet of a school
- Possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and marijuana
- Maintaining a dwelling for drug sales
Poteat is being held on a $15,000 bond.
