DURHAM, N.C. — A woman was shot Tuesday morning while working at a food truck parked near a convenience store on South Alston Avenue after a man arrived to pick up an order and opened fire, according to the Durham Police Department. The victim was rushed to a local hospital and is in stable condition, while police continue to search for the suspect.

What Happened

Durham police say the shooting occurred around 7:17 a.m. on Oct. 7 in the 700 block of South Alston Avenue. According to a witness, a man drove up to the food truck to pick up an order and suddenly shot one of the workers, hitting her in the back.

Another employee and a child were inside the food truck at the time but were not injured. Police quickly secured the area with crime scene tape as detectives collected evidence from the parking lot and surrounding grass.

Authorities say the incident appears to be isolated and does not pose a threat to the public. Detectives are working to determine a motive and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
