One Child Dead, Another Hospitalized After Chartwell Court Incident

DURHAM, NC — Durham Police are investigating a heartbreaking homicide involving two small children discovered unresponsive Thursday evening on Chartwell Court.

Authorities responded to the scene at approximately 5:26 p.m. on February 12, 2026, where officers located two young children who were not responsive. Both children were transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment.

Tragically, one child was later pronounced deceased, according to police.

The condition of the second child has not been publicly released.

Law enforcement officials have identified a person of interest connected to the case. However, no additional details have been released at this time.
