Durham Police Arrest/Cite 29 Individuals, Seize 29 Firearms in Operation Targeting Violent Crime
The Durham Police Department’s Organized Crime Division conducted Operation Spring Seizure in late April in partnership with Durham Task Force Officers and the FBI. The operation, which ran from April 22 to April 24, 2026, was part of an initiative to proactively address concerns related to violent crime incidents throughout the City of Durham.
The operation was driven by crime statistical data and concerns from community members, says Captain B. Frey, Commander of the Organized Crime Division for the Durham Police Department.
“Law enforcement was able to act strategically rather than reactively,” Frey explained. “This approach not only helped deter potential criminal behavior but also reinforced a visible sense of safety and accountability throughout the neighborhoods…As a result, there was a noticeable reduction in reported violent incidents during and after the operation, improved community cooperation, and a stronger relationship between law enforcement and the public.”
