Durham Sheriffs Investigating Alleged Suicide by Train Situation
DURHAM, NC (Wednesday, August 5, 2026) — Durham County Sheriff’s Office investigators have cleared the scene along the railroad tracks near the intersection of Tom Clark Road and Redwood Road following a death investigation this evening.
At approximately 5:45 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a train-pedestrian collision in northern Durham County. Based on evidence gathered at the scene, investigators have determined the deceased, identified as a 48-year-old female, died by suicide after being struck by a Norfolk Southern train.
