Child Support Amnesty Day In Durham County

Durham, NC— Durham County Department of Social Services (DSS) is offering a reprieve for parents who owe child support.

Durham County DSS Child Support Division announces Child Support Amnesty Day will take place this year on December 7, 2016. Durham county non-custodial parents who have an order for arrest for non-payment of child support issued BEFORE August 31, 2016 are eligible for the amnesty program. A $500.00 per case payment must be made on December 7th.

“These parents have an opportunity to get a fresh start and begin again”, states Mary Flounoy, program manager of the Child Support Division. “We welcome phone calls and are willing to address concerns and answer questions.”

Non-custodial parents will be able to make a payment of at least $500.00, have their order for arrest recalled, schedule another court date and have the opportunity to seek employment without the threat of being arrested.

Time: 9:00 am until 3:00 pm

Details: The Order of Arrest (OFA) must have been issued BEFORE August 31, 2016 for eligibility.
