Jazmine Warren Motiv8 Monday Spectacular MAgazine Hillside High School Durham NC

#Motiv8Mondays – Jazmine Warren

Welcome to Spectacular Magazine Independent Artist of the Week, the latest Spectacular Magazine weekly feature. Each week Raven Nicole Gibbs (professionally known as Raven Nicole), founder of the non-profit organization Motiv8, Inc., will feature an up-and-coming artist of various genres. This week we are featuring Jazmine Warren.

Jazmine Warren is the 17-year-old daughter of Jeffery and Valerie Warren. She is a Durham, North Carolina based dancer and senior at the illustrious Hillside High School where she is proud to be a part of the IB Program.

Jazmine started dancing for fun when she was only three years old at Edison Johnson. She started off by taking ballet and hip hop classes and though she loved it, she didn’t yet know that it was her passion. Soon, she started to dance at church and in school while taking more workshops in and is now the Captain for the Dance team “Sting” at Hillside High School .

It is hard to say what her favorite genre of dance, but if I asked to pick a “fav five”, it would be jazz, contemporary modern, lyrical, liturgical and ballet.

Her artistic influences include Ms. Eartha Robinson, Ms. Debbie Allen, Alvin Ailey, Sean Bankhead and her current coach Ms.Valencia Lipscomb.

She is motivated by her progress and the physical and emotional relief she gets when dancing.

Jazmine will soon be performing at Hillside in three plays this season; The Color Purple, Swing School the Musical and the season finale Charlie’s and the Chocolate Factory. You can also find Jazmen in the Hillside dance showcase “Stargaze” and in the running for “Miss Hillside”.
