Shaw University To Welcome National Civil Rights Leaders

Raleigh, North Carolina – National theologians and civil rights leaders, Dr. William Barber, Dr. Corey Walker, Dr. Jeremiah Wright, & Dr. Freddie Haynes will headline “The Awakening: When We All Rise” events and voter forum at Shaw University. The event is part of Shaw University renowned guest lecturer, Dr. James Forbes, Jr. “Preaching and the Next Great Awakening” lecture series which commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The “Awakening” events and voter forum will take place on the historic campus on Saturday, October 13, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Events include:

  • Mobilizing Congregations for Change Leadership Breakfast (Estey Hall)

  • Spirit of the Awakening Chapel Service (Thomas J. Boyd Chapel)

  • The Awakening Lecture (Thomas J. Boyd Chapel)
